Marrakesh

Moroccan restaurant in hotel on the river side
Cuisine: Morrocan, western
Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆
Price indication: a bit expensive; average meal about THB 300-500 / person
Marrakesh was my hope to find a good Arab restaurant in Chiang Mai, as we don’t have that many.
Located inside the premises of a 5-star hotel on the river, I hoped there would be enough customers to offer freshly made and high quality Arab food.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t that great. Most dishes were clearly prepared before and deep-frozen, to be defrosted by micro-wave on demand, so I could taste the structure of the food was damaged and some of the flavour gone.
The price wasn’t that cheap, so I didn’t try for a long while, but I still hope that with more customers in the hotel, somehow the turnover can be high enough to make fresh food every day and perhaps then it’s worth it.

Location:
On the west river embankment south of the city. Follow Changklan road under the Superhighway and keep following the river, being on the west embankment. It’s another 1-2 km down south on the left inside the Sjeik Istana Hotel.
Open: every day
