La Fourchette Restraunt Chiang Mai

Looks nice, tastes so-so

Price indication: a bit expensive; average meal about THB 300-500

Conveniently located just off the Sunday Market street, La Fourchette is a small restaurant run by a French owner and his Thai staff.
The ambiance in the place is nice, well-decorated and pleasant. The service is good enough, staff very friendly and polite.

The food looks good at first sight, but the taste of most dishes I tried was just so so and sometimes even not so good. I had a white snapper which was not good, a salad which was not so great either, bread which was not warm / fresh, and sauteed potatoes which were okay but in tiny portions.

The menu offers a large variety of French and international dishes, which mostly look like La Nouvelle Cuisine: beautiful and in small portions, but it won’t fill up a good eater.

Clearly, La Fourchette is trying, it just doesn’t really come back in the taste.
It’s not cheap, and some dishes are rather expensive, but one can expect that for certain farang food and I’d be willing to pay for it if it was a great taste.

Overall, it’s not as nice as it looks, but fair enough I’ll give it a try a second time with another dish to see if that taste is better, although I’m sure it won’t fill me up.
